Windows 11 July 2026 Updates and the Samsung T9 SSD Partition Issue: What Is Confirmed and What Is Not

Microsoft released its July 14, 2026 Windows 11 security updates alongside a separate cumulative update for .NET Framework, bringing security fixes, reliability changes and previously released preview improvements to supported versions of Windows 11. Some systems subsequently showed problems ranging from update failures and driver instability to external storage behaving unexpectedly. Reports involving Samsung T9 external SSDs are particularly concerning because affected drives could still be detected while their partitions appeared to disappear, but there is currently not enough evidence to establish KB5100998 or KB5101650 as the confirmed cause of a general Samsung T9 compatibility problem.
